Desk Correspondent , Delhi - The administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has formally approached the Delhi Police seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) following the emergence of provocative slogans on campus. The university’s move comes after several walls within the premises were reportedly defaced with graffiti targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In its letter to the police, the JNU administration described the act as a serious breach of campus discipline and an attempt to disturb the academic environment and peace of the institution.

According to university officials, the slogans were discovered in prominent areas of the campus, sparking immediate condemnation from various student groups and faculty members. The administration has emphasized its "zero-tolerance policy" toward any activity that promotes hatred or targets constitutional authorities. Security footage from the vicinity is reportedly being scanned to identify the individuals involved in the act. The university has also initiated an internal inquiry to determine if students or outsiders were responsible for the late-night vandalism.

This incident adds to the long history of political friction and activism at JNU, which has frequently been a flashpoint for ideological debates. While some student unions have raised concerns over the "curbing of free speech" on campus, the administration maintains that such "derogatory" and "offensive" displays fall outside the realm of healthy democratic dissent. As the Delhi Police evaluate the university's request for an FIR, security has been tightened at the campus gates to prevent any potential escalations or further unauthorized demonstrations.
