In a shocking incident on September 10, 2025, Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager from Karnataka, was brutally beheaded in front of his wife and son at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, Texas. The attack followed a dispute over a broken washing machine with his co-worker, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a 37-year-old Cuban national with a violent criminal history.
Surveillance footage captured the horrifying scene as Cobos-Martinez chased Nagamallaiah into the motel office, where he was repeatedly struck with a machete. Despite the victim's family's desperate attempts to intervene, the assault continued until Nagamallaiah was decapitated. The attacker then discarded the severed head in a dumpster.
Cobos-Martinez was arrested at the scene and has confessed to the crime. He is currently charged with capital murder and is being held without bond. Additionally, he faces an immigration hold due to his illegal status in the United States.
This tragic event has left the Indian-American community in shock and raised concerns about the safety of immigrant workers in the U.S. The victim's family is seeking justice, and the case continues to garner widespread attention.
