India slams Iran’s Fujairah drone strike that injured 3 Indians

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - India has strongly condemned Iran’s latest drone and missile barrage on the United Arab Emirates, after a strike on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone triggered a fire and injured three Indian nationals amid the wider Iran–Israel war spillover in West Asia. New Delhi has called the attack “unacceptable” and urged an immediate halt to hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure as tensions once again flare across the Gulf.

According to UAE and Fujairah authorities, a drone believed to have originated from Iran hit the Fujairah oil zone, sparking a blaze that damaged facilities and injured three Indians, who were rushed to hospital with what officials called “moderate” injuries. Fujairah Civil Defence teams were deployed immediately and worked to contain the fire at the petroleum complex, a key export hub that allows the UAE to bypass the vulnerable Strait of Hormuz for its crude shipments. In its response, New Delhi called for an “immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians,” reiterating that India “continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy” to restore peace and stability across West Asia.

The MEA also stressed the importance of “free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law,” underlining the attack’s implications for global energy security and India’s own vital sea lanes. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed that it is in close touch with local authorities to ensure medical care and welfare for the injured nationals. Officials have urged Indians in the UAE to follow official advisories and avoid rumours as the security situation remains tense, while the UAE and other countries warn that continued Iranian strikes on Gulf infrastructure risk further escalation of an already volatile conflict.

As the Iran–Israel war and the broader Iran–US confrontation spill over into the Gulf’s critical energy hubs, the Fujairah strike that injured three Indians has brought the conflict uncomfortably close to home for New Delhi. India’s strong condemnation, coupled with its push for dialogue, underlines a delicate balance: safeguarding its citizens and energy lifelines while urging all sides to step back from the brink and prevent a wider regional conflagration.
