India Sends 5 Tonnes of Medicines to Afghanistan as Humanitarian Aid

News Desk - India has sent another 5 tonnes of essential medicines to Afghanistan as humanitarian aid, continuing a pattern of medical support for the country. The shipment was delivered to Kabul and described by India as part of its enduring commitment to help the Afghan people.

The report says the aid was announced by Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, through a post on X. In that message, he said India was delivering “another 5 tonnes of essential medicines to Kabul,” and framed the move as an expression of humanitarian concern and support for Afghanistan’s well-being.
This latest delivery is part of a broader effort by India to support Afghanistan’s healthcare system.

The report also points out that the MEA recently reiterated India’s intention to provide more medical equipment to Afghan health authorities, including devices for diagnosis, treatment, neonatal care, pediatric care, ventilators, patient monitors, and specialized medical kits. The aid is significant because Afghanistan continues to face major healthcare challenges, and India has tried to keep medical assistance flowing despite the political and security complexities in the region. The report presents this shipment as a continuation of that long-standing approach rather than a one-off gesture.

In practical terms, the 5 tonne shipment adds fresh medical support to Afghanistan at a time when such supplies remain important. More broadly, it reinforces India’s message that humanitarian aid to Afghanistan will remain an ongoing part of its regional engagement.
