India has welcomed the meeting between former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held in Alaska. Officials said New Delhi views the dialogue as a constructive step toward easing tensions between Washington and Moscow.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted that any effort to reduce conflict and strengthen global stability is in the interest of the international community. India has maintained that open communication between major powers is essential for addressing global challenges, including energy security and regional conflicts.
Diplomatic observers pointed out that India has historically balanced its ties with both the United States and Russia. The government believes that improved relations between the two countries will create a more stable international environment, benefiting trade, security, and multilateral cooperation.
While details of the discussions between Trump and Putin remain limited, India has emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and peaceful engagement between all stakeholders.
