Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - The opposition's INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) bloc convened a key meeting in New Delhi on Saturday amid growing speculation about internal differences within the coalition. Despite the absence of some alliance partners, the Congress sought to project a united front, emphasizing that all constituent parties remain committed to challenging the policies of the Narendra Modi-led government.
The meeting brought together several senior leaders from opposition parties to deliberate on political strategy, parliamentary coordination, and future plans to strengthen the alliance ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Questions over the coalition's cohesion had intensified after some prominent leaders and parties chose not to attend the gathering. However, Congress leaders downplayed concerns, stating that those unable to participate had conveyed their support and continued opposition to the central government's policies on issues ranging from governance and the economy to federalism and democratic institutions.
Congress representatives stressed that differences over regional political calculations should not be interpreted as a weakening of the alliance. According to party leaders, the primary objective of the INDIA bloc remains presenting a united opposition platform capable of holding the government accountable on key national issues. Discussions reportedly focused on coordinating campaigns, strengthening communication among alliance partners, and developing a common approach on matters expected to dominate the political agenda in the coming months.
The New Delhi meeting comes at a crucial time for the INDIA bloc as it seeks to maintain relevance and cohesion despite challenges posed by regional dynamics and differing political priorities. While questions remain about the alliance's long-term unity, opposition leaders insist that their shared goal of countering the BJP-led government continues to keep the coalition together.
