At a public demonstration held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, activist Abhijeet Dipke, associated with the Citizens for Justice and Peace, made a strong statement declaring that he was “fully prepared to sacrifice my freedom” in the pursuit of justice and constitutional values.
The protest brought together civil rights campaigners, students, and social activists who raised concerns over what they described as shrinking democratic space and increasing challenges faced by dissenting voices. Speakers at the gathering emphasized the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights and ensuring accountability within democratic institutions.
Addressing the crowd, Dipke described his stance as a commitment to peaceful resistance and constitutional struggle. He said that standing up for justice often comes with personal risks, including legal consequences, but stressed that such sacrifices are sometimes necessary to defend democratic principles. His remarks drew attention from participants who responded with support and slogans calling for stronger protections of civil liberties.
The protest site, Jantar Mantar, witnessed a calm but determined atmosphere as speakers continued to highlight issues related to freedom of expression and civic rights. Security arrangements were present, though the demonstration remained peaceful throughout.
Other participants echoed similar concerns, urging authorities to protect democratic space and ensure that citizens can express dissent without fear. They also reiterated that peaceful protest remains a legitimate and vital part of democracy.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by participants to continue raising their voices through lawful and peaceful means in the days ahead.
