Shivani Jaiswal, New Delhi-
The Election Commission of India has announced elections for 27 seats across the Rajya Sabha and various State Legislative Councils.
The voting process will be conducted in phases as per the constitutional schedule and existing vacancies in different states. The elections will fill seats that have become vacant due to retirement or completion of terms of current members.
The Commission stated that detailed notifications regarding dates, nomination procedures, and voting schedules will be issued separately for each state and category of seats. All arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
These elections are important for maintaining the functioning of the Rajya Sabha, which represents states at the national level, and the Legislative Councils, which play a role in state-level legislative review in select states.
Officials have also emphasized that strict adherence to election guidelines and model code of conduct will be ensured during the entire process. Security arrangements and monitoring systems will be strengthened to prevent any irregularities.
Political parties are expected to begin preparing for the elections as seat allocations and candidate selection discussions gain momentum.
Including the exact polling dates and results schedule, will be released by the Commission in the coming days.
