Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s India visit is set to center on a joint declaration on economic security, with artificial intelligence emerging as a separate and high-priority theme. The talks are expected to push cooperation on critical technologies, supply chains and digital infrastructure, while also linking AI to research, skills and responsible governance.
Takaichi’s visit is expected to produce a joint declaration on economic security, covering resilient supply chains, semiconductors, critical minerals, clean energy and other strategic sectors. According to reports, the two leaders will review trade, technology, infrastructure, defence and wider regional issues during the summit.
A separate AI statement is also expected, with cooperation on research and development, industrial applications, digital public infrastructure, skills development and responsible governance of technology. Japan and India have already been building an AI track through their strategic dialogue, so the summit is likely to turn that into more concrete work.
Takaichi’s India agenda is being shaped around two linked priorities: economic security and AI. If the summit delivers the expected declaration and AI statement, it would deepen the partnership in areas that both governments now see as central to growth and resilience.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said Japan is committed to investing in India, with the India-Japan Summit focusing on semiconductors, AI, supply chains, and long-term economic cooperation.
