Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has relocated to a private farmhouse in South Delhi's Chhatarpur area, six weeks after his resignation. Dhankhar stepped down from his post on July 21, the first day of the Monsoon session, citing health reasons. The 74-year-old had been staying at the Vice President's Enclave in the capital since his resignation and previously resided in the newly constructed Vice President Enclave near Parliament House for about 15 months.
The farmhouse, located in the Gadaipur area of Chhatarpur, belongs to INLD leader Abhay Chautala. This move is an interim arrangement until Dhankhar is allocated a Type-VIII official residence, which he is entitled to as a former Vice President. Sources close to Dhankhar indicate he is currently spending time with his family, playing table tennis, and practising yoga.
An election to pick his successor is scheduled for September 9, with NDA pick CP Radhakrishnan set to face opposition nominee B Sudershan Reddy. Dhankhar, who was a Congress MLA from Rajasthan from 1993 to 1998, has also applied to resume his pension as a former MLA. His long-standing relationship with the Chautala family, dating back nearly 40 years, stems from his mentorship by Devi Lal.
