Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing at her Civil Lines residence on Wednesday morning. Taking to X, Gupta described the incident as a "cowardly attempt" on her resolve to serve Delhi and its people.
While initially "in shock", the Chief Minister confirmed she is now "feeling better" and thanked well-wishers. She emphatically stated that such attacks "can never break her spirit or her resolve to serve the people", pledging to work with "even more energy and dedication". Public hearings and grievance redressal will continue as planned.
Police apprehended the accused, identified as Rajesh Khimji (also Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakariya), from Rajkot. Officials state he is a "serial offender" with previous cases. The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) indicated CCTV footage from her Shalimar Bagh residence suggests a "well-planned conspiracy", with the attacker having prepared for at least 24 hours, including reconnaissance. An investigation is underway.
