Contempt Action Intensifies Against Advocate Rakesh Kishore

Criminal contempt proceedings are set to be initiated against 71-year-old suspended advocate Rakesh Kishore, who attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai during a Supreme Court hearing on Monday. A formal request has been made to the Attorney General seeking permission to commence these proceedings .

Kishore was promptly restrained by security personnel during the incident. Following the event, he was suspended by the Bar Council of India, which barred him from practicing in any court, tribunal, or authority across the country. A show-cause notice has been issued, requiring him to explain within 15 days why the suspension should not continue and why further action should not be taken .
