British YouTuber caught in middle of Nepal unrest turns unexpected eyewitness

A British YouTuber, who had come to Nepal to record cultural experiences for his channel, unexpectedly found himself documenting the country’s tense political crisis. On September 10, while filming in Kathmandu, he was swept into a protest that quickly escalated into violent clashes.

What began as routine street footage soon turned chaotic as large groups of demonstrators filled the roads, voicing anger against government restrictions. Police deployed barricades and tear gas, while protesters pushed back, shouting slogans and waving flags. The YouTuber, camera in hand, continued to capture the unfolding drama despite the risk.

Later, he admitted in his vlog that he had “never thought of being in such a situation,” adding that the intensity of the confrontation left him stunned. His recording shows clouds of smoke rising above the streets, crowds dispersing in panic, and rows of security personnel attempting to regain control.

Once uploaded, the video quickly spread across social media platforms. Many viewers described the footage as a rare, unfiltered view of Nepal’s turmoil, offering an outsider’s perspective on events that mainstream coverage had only briefly touched. Nepali users also reacted strongly—some praised him for highlighting their struggle internationally, while others cautioned him about potential risks.

The YouTuber’s unplanned shift from travel vlogger to accidental reporter highlights how digital creators can sometimes capture historic moments, providing global audiences with raw accounts of unrest far from home.
