As Bihar prepares for its Assembly Elections later this year in October-November, the Mahagathbandhan alliance is deep in seat-sharing negotiations, with the Congress party issuing a stern warning against being a "dumping yard" for unwinnable constituencies. Congress leaders have emphasised that seat distribution must involve balancing winnable and tough seats, expecting every allied party to contribute from their quota to accommodate potential new entrants like the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Pashupati Kumar Paras' Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP).
Congress anticipates settling for around 57-60 seats in the upcoming polls, even as state party leaders consider various permutations. Krishna Allavaru, the Bihar in-charge for Congress, reiterated the party's stance that all allies must "share the burden", ensuring no single party gets all the advantageous seats while others are left with less favourable ones. The goal is to advance seat-sharing positively and in good time.
Amidst these electoral preparations, Congress has also launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing it of widespread "vote chori" in collusion with the Election Commission. Allavaru alleged a "definite process for vote theft," claiming that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have advanced this through a well-thought-out conspiracy, first by changing the process of selecting the Election Commissioner to remove the Chief Justice and include the Home Minister.
