Australian MP threatens journalist after question on Lebanese heritage caught on camera

Canberra | August 28 – An Australian Member of Parliament was caught on camera threatening a journalist with his fist after being questioned about his Lebanese heritage.

The incident occurred during a media interaction when the reporter raised a query linked to the MP’s background. In response, the lawmaker appeared visibly agitated, warning the journalist, “Don’t say it,” while raising his fist in a threatening gesture.

The video of the exchange has since gone viral, drawing sharp criticism from press associations and opposition leaders who called the behaviour “unacceptable and intimidating.”

Calls are growing for the MP to issue a public apology, while parliamentary authorities are reviewing the incident. The journalist has not yet filed a formal complaint.
