Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the Election Commission is deliberately removing the names of voters belonging to backward communities from the electoral rolls. He claimed that such actions are being carried out to weaken the political representation of these groups and to influence election outcomes.
Speaking at a party meeting, Yadav said that several complaints have been received from different constituencies where large numbers of names from backward communities have reportedly gone missing from the voters’ list. He demanded that the Election Commission take immediate steps to investigate the issue and restore the names that were unfairly deleted.
Yadav also accused the ruling party of attempting to manipulate the democratic process by targeting communities that have historically played a decisive role in elections. He warned that such practices would erode public trust in free and fair elections.
The Samajwadi Party leader urged people to stay vigilant, check their voter status, and raise complaints if they find discrepancies. He further called upon opposition parties and civil society groups to unite against what he described as a threat to democratic rights.
Election authorities, however, have not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
