Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Frustrated by years of isolation and broken promises, residents of a remote tribal village in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have made an unusual appeal directly to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding completion of a road project that locals say has remained unfinished for almost a decade. The village, located in the Bastar region, continues to struggle with poor connectivity, affecting access to healthcare, education, markets, and emergency services.
According to villagers, the incomplete road has severely disrupted daily life for years, especially during monsoon seasons when movement becomes extremely difficult. Residents claim repeated requests to local authorities and officials failed to bring meaningful progress, forcing them to seek intervention from the Union government. Videos and photographs from the area reportedly show damaged stretches, muddy tracks, and inaccessible routes that have left several tribal communities cut off from nearby towns and essential services.
The issue has once again highlighted the broader infrastructure challenges faced by remote and Maoist affected regions of Bastar and Sukma. Locals argue that lack of proper roads continues to slow development and limits opportunities for education, healthcare access, and economic growth in tribal areas. Political observers say the appeal also reflects growing public frustration over delays in rural infrastructure projects despite repeated government promises of accelerated development in tribal belts.
