Kohli is set to become the first batter in history to score 1000 runs against MI across IPL and Champions League T20 matches.
Kohli has scored 972 runs in 34 innings against Mumbai Indians at an average of 32.40 and a strike rate of 128, including seven half-centuries. Interestingly, despite his dominance over the years, the former RCB captain has never scored a century against the five-time champions. The RCB icon already has more than 1000 runs against four IPL teams — Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders — further highlighting his unmatched consistency in the tournament. Widely regarded as one of cricket’s greatest batters, Kohli remains the highest run-scorer in IPL history with 9040 runs in 277 matches, including a record 66 fifties and eight centuries. Even after retiring from T20 Internationals, the 37-year-old has continued his red-hot form in IPL 2026, scoring 379 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 164.06.
Sunday’s game will also mark RCB’s first home match in Raipur in nearly a decade — a venue closely linked to Kohli’s unforgettable 2016 season, where he scored 54 runs off 45 balls and led RCB to qualify for the playoffs in Raipur. He also smashed 102 runs off 93 balls in ODI match, marking his 53th ODI century. The stadium of Raipur is known for making new records for Kohli and it will be interesting to see whether he is going to make new record once again in this stadium. As RCB battle MI in a crucial encounter, Kohli now stands on the verge of yet another historic milestone in his legendary IPL journey.
