Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for an immediate investigation into what he described as a "triple sabotage" during his visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 23, 2025. Trump alleged that three separate incidents, an escalator malfunction, a teleprompter failure, and audio system issues—were deliberate attempts to disrupt his appearance at the UN General Assembly.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, "A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!" He further claimed that the escalator carrying him and First Lady Melania Trump "came to a screeching halt," nearly causing them to fall.
The U.S. Secret Service is reportedly investigating the escalator incident. A UN official suggested that someone from the president's party may have inadvertently triggered the stop mechanism by running ahead of him. Regarding the teleprompter and audio system failures, the UN has acknowledged technical difficulties but has not confirmed any malicious intent.
Trump has demanded accountability for these events, labeling them as intentional disruptions aimed at undermining his presence at the international forum. The UN has yet to release a formal statement addressing Trump's allegations.
