Ananya Lohia , Chennai - The sudden demise of veteran Tamil actor, director and screenwriter K Bhagyaraj has left the film industry in mourning. The 73-year-old passed away on Saturday following a cardiac arrest, just days after attending actress-politician Khushbu Sundar's daughter's wedding in Goa.
Actor Trisha Krishnan paid an emotional tribute to Bhagyaraj, revealing that she had shared a meal with him just a day before his death. Taking to Instagram Stories, she wrote, “RIP dear Bhagyaraj sir. It is hard to believe we were just sharing a meal together yesterday and I hear this heartbreaking news today.” She also extended her condolences to his wife Poornima Bhagyaraj and children Shanthanu and Saranya.
A video from the Goa wedding has also surfaced online, showing Bhagyaraj warmly greeting veteran actor Chiranjeevi. Trisha was among the celebrities who attended the wedding celebrations. Bhagyaraj was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai after suffering a cardiopulmonary cardiac arrest. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay expressed grief over the filmmaker's demise and announced that state honours would be accorded during his final rites. Widely known as the ‘King of Screenplay’, Bhagyaraj transformed Tamil cinema with his unique storytelling style and memorable films such as Andha 7 Naatkal, Mundhanai Mudichu, Chinna Veedu and Enga Chinna Rasa.
