Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty have welcomed a baby girl, marking a joyous moment in their lives. The Mumbai Indians star shared the news on social media with an emotional note, describing the arrival as one filled with “giggles, bows, and dreams.”
The announcement was met with warm wishes from across the cricketing world, including his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians and teammate Deepak Chahar. Suryakumar was notably absent from the first batch of Mumbai Indians players who travelled to Raipur for their upcoming IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, having stayed back for this important personal milestone. He had recently led the side in their previous match against Lucknow Super Giants. Suryakumar has often credited Devisha Shetty for playing a defining role in shaping his career. He recalled a pivotal conversation in 2018 when Devisha asked him how he planned to achieve his dream of playing for India.
That question led to a series of disciplined lifestyle changes for the couple. “We had to cut down on a lot of things — from diet to friends’ circles to weekends. We changed our routine completely,” Suryakumar revealed in a past interview. The impact of those changes was almost immediate. In 2018, he enjoyed a breakthrough IPL season, scoring 512 runs, and also performed consistently in domestic cricket. That year, he got the opportunity to open for Mumbai Indians and capitalised on it with strong performances. He continued the same approach in the following seasons. In 2020, he delivered another impressive IPL campaign, scoring 480 runs as a finisher. His consistent performances and renewed mindset eventually earned him a call-up to the Indian team in 2021. Over the years, his growth culminated in a major achievement as he went on to lead India to a successful ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title defence in 2026.
As Suryakumar Yadav embraces fatherhood, the journey he shares with Devisha Shetty stands as a testament to discipline, partnership, and perseverance. The arrival of their baby girl adds a new chapter to his inspiring story, one that continues to resonate both on and off the field.
