Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Veteran actor Suhasini Mulay has opened up about finding love and getting married for the first time at the age of 60. The actor, best known for playing Aamir Khan's mother in Lagaan, shared how she met her husband, scientist Atul Gurtu, through social media and decided to marry him within weeks of meeting in person.
In a recent interview, Suhasini said she remained single for six decades because she had not found the right partner. She described Atul Gurtu as a renowned scientist and a wonderful human being, despite joking that she barely understands his scientific discussions. The actor revealed that their journey began on Facebook after a friend encouraged her to create an account. Curious about Atul's profile and his work on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), she sent him a message, which soon led to regular conversations and email exchanges.
Suhasini admitted she was initially cautious about trusting someone she met online and even refused to share her phone number. It was only after verifying his credentials and workplace that she agreed to take the friendship further. The couple eventually met in person at the end of November and, after spending time together and discussing their future, decided to get married. They tied the knot on January 16, less than two months after their first meeting.
Apart from her acclaimed acting career, Suhasini has also worked with legendary filmmakers such as Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen. She has produced more than 60 documentaries and won multiple National Awards, making her one of Indian cinema's most respected creative talents.
