News Desk : Veteran actor and comedian Satish Shah will be honoured with the Padma Shri posthumously today, with President Droupadi Murmu presenting the award at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The prestigious civilian honour comes months after Shah's demise in October 2025, with his cousin Arvind Mamania set to receive the award on behalf of the late actor.

Ahead of the ceremony, Mamania shared that the family is still coping with the loss of Shah, who was known for bringing joy and laughter wherever he went. "We have not yet come to terms with the shock. Seeing his wife every day keeps reminding us of the kind of person he was. Our home was filled with laughter and smiles; now all of a sudden the happiness has vanished. Explaining why he would be accepting the honour, Mamania said Shah's wife Madhu was unable to travel due to health reasons.

We wished the honour would come earlier, when he was alive, but we cannot change what has happened. My wish is that when I receive the award on his behalf, he watches us from above and blesses us," he added. The family plans to hold a small celebration in Mumbai after the ceremony to commemorate Shah's achievement and legacy. Shah passed away after collapsing at his Mumbai residence while having lunch. He was rushed to a hospital but could not be revived. His final rites were attended by family members, friends and several colleagues from the entertainment industry.

A beloved figure in Indian cinema and television, Satish Shah's contribution to entertainment continues to be remembered by audiences and peers alike. The posthumous Padma Shri serves as a fitting recognition of his decades-long career and enduring impact on Indian comedy and acting.
