Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - Amid mounting rumours of a fallout on the sets of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, actors Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh have firmly dismissed speculation surrounding an alleged “catfight” with co-star Wamiqa Gabbi. The actors criticised what they called manufactured narratives by media and social media that frequently pit women against one another despite there being no real conflict.
The buzz began during promotions for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana. Social media users speculated that Sara and Rakul’s visible camaraderie during interviews and public appearances meant that Wamiqa was being sidelined on the film’s promotional circuit. Addressing the rumours in an interview with News18, Sara stressed that she, Rakul and Wamiqa are all very different personalities, but are equally secure and confident in themselves. She credited director Mudassar Aziz for creating a nuanced script that left no room for unhealthy comparisons between the female characters. According to Sara, the individuality of each role was maintained with great care, right down to the styling details.
She revealed that even costumes, hairstyles and makeup were specifically designed to reflect the uniqueness of every character. The actor also highlighted the collaborative nature of filmmaking, explaining that actors should stop thinking in terms of “my part” and “her part” and instead focus on the film as a collective effort. “When you’re doing a film, you should ideally stop looking at ‘my part’ and ‘her part’. It’s ‘our film’. The funnier Rakul is, the better it is for me. The better she is in a song, the better that is for me. The better I am in a song, the better for her. We’re a family,” Sara said. She further added that strong performances from co-stars only elevate the quality of the film and ultimately benefit everyone associated with the project. While Sara focused on the spirit of teamwork, Rakul directly addressed the “catfight” narrative often associated with actresses in the entertainment industry. The actor blamed social media and sections of the media for repeatedly creating perceptions that eventually get accepted as truth. “The media created this. A perception is a narrative which becomes the truth if it’s repeated ten times.
Who has seen these catfights, differences and disturbed relationships?” Rakul said. Rakul pointed out that professional actors understand the importance of a film to everyone’s career and livelihood, adding that it would be “silly” to create unnecessary tension on set unless someone had genuinely done something offensive. She also argued that the long-standing belief that women in Bollywood do not get along is largely a fabricated narrative. According to Rakul, social media users are quick to form opinions and create stories daily, but repetition does not automatically make those claims true.
With both Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh strongly rejecting rumours of discord, the cast of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 appears united ahead of the film’s release. The actors’ remarks not only shut down speculation surrounding Wamiqa Gabbi but also highlighted a larger conversation about how women in the industry are often unfairly portrayed as rivals rather than collaborators.
