Desk Correspondent , Canada - Nora Fatehi is set to return to football’s biggest stage as the actor-performer has been confirmed for the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada. The announcement was made on Saturday, with Nora scheduled to perform and sing at the grand ceremony on June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto.
Known globally for her electrifying dance performances, Nora will join an international lineup featuring artists such as Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Michael Bublé, Jessie Reyez, Elyanna and Vegedream. FIFA has also unveiled a star-studded lineup for the USA opening ceremony, including Katy Perry, Future, Lisa, Rema and Tyla. This will mark Nora’s second FIFA appearance after she performed during the 2022 World Cup celebrations in Qatar. Back then, the actor had described the moment as one of the biggest achievements of her career. Sharing an emotional note on Instagram after the performance, Nora wrote that performing at the World Cup stadium was a dream she had worked towards her entire life.
The FIFA World Cup 2026, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, will run from June 11 to July 19 across the USA, Mexico and Canada. FIFA has confirmed that separate opening ceremonies will be held in all three host nations before their respective opening matches. Meanwhile, Nora recently made headlines for a different reason after appearing before the National Commission for Women over the controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar”. The Hindi version of the track, featuring Nora alongside Sanjay Dutt, sparked backlash over allegedly explicit lyrics, leading to its removal from YouTube. Following her appearance before the Commission, Nora said she had submitted a written apology and acknowledged her responsibility as a public figure. “There was no intention to offend anybody, but of course, I have to be responsible as an artist,” she said, while also revealing plans to sponsor the education of orphan girls as part of giving back to society.
Despite recent controversy, Nora Fatehi’s inclusion in the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony underlines her growing global appeal as a performer. From dazzling audiences at the Qatar World Cup to now headlining one of football’s biggest international events in Canada, Nora continues to cement her place on the world entertainment stage.
