Ananya Lohia , Scotland : Supergirl delivers an entertaining mix of action, humour and emotion, with Milly Alcock stealing the show in the lead role. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film presents a fresh take on the iconic superhero while allowing her to step out of Superman's shadow.

The story follows Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, who is far from the typical superhero. More interested in having fun than saving the universe, she finds herself on a mission after her beloved dog Krypto is poisoned by the ruthless villain Krem, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Along the way, Kara teams up with Ruthye, portrayed by Eve Ridley, whose family was brutally killed by Krem. The two embark on a journey across planets, seeking justice while facing dangerous enemies and difficult choices.

The film balances exciting action sequences with emotional moments, exploring Kara's past and her relationship with her famous cousin, Superman. David Corenswet makes a brief appearance as Superman, while Jason Momoa leaves an impression in a small but memorable role.

With strong performances, engaging visuals and plenty of humour, Supergirl succeeds in giving the character her own identity. Milly Alcock's charismatic portrayal makes the film a standout addition to the DC universe, earning it a solid four-star rating.
