Mandhana Creates History, Becomes First Player to Hit 600 T20I Fours

Ananya Lohia , England - India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scripted history during India's Women's T20 World Cup clash against the Netherlands, becoming the first player in the history of T20 Internationals—across both men's and women's cricket—to complete 600 fours.

Opening the batting at Headingley, Mandhana reached the landmark with a trademark boundary through the off-side before going on to score 74 off 47 balls. The left-hander finished the match with 604 fours in 168 T20I appearances, extending her lead at the top of the all-time list. New Zealand's Suzie Bates is second with 521 fours, while Babar Azam leads the men's chart with 477 boundaries.

Mandhana's record-breaking knock also saw her surpass Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur for the most 50-plus scores by an Indian player in Women's T20 World Cup history, with six. She shared a 115-run opening stand with Shafali Verma, helping India post their highest-ever Women's T20 World Cup total of 209. India then bowled out the Netherlands for 114 to register a commanding 95-run victory, with Shafali claiming three wickets and Sree Charani starring with four wickets.

Having scored back-to-back half-centuries in the tournament, Mandhana has been at the forefront of India's strong start. India will now look to maintain their momentum when they face South Africa women's national cricket team in their next group-stage match on Sunday.
