Far-right activist Laura Loomer, a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, has sparked controversy with her recent statements and actions. On Friday, Loomer launched a scathing tirade on social media, accusing the Trump administration of granting Qatar a military base on U.S. soil. She labeled this move as a betrayal of "America First" principles and declared, "I won't be voting in 2026." This declaration fueled speculation about her departure from the Republican Party.
Loomer, who previously ran as a Republican candidate for Florida's 21st Congressional District in 2020 and 2022, has not explicitly stated her intent to leave the GOP. However, her recent comments have led some to question her allegiance. Conservative figure Roger Stone retweeted claims of Loomer's exit from the party, to which she responded by criticizing the GOP's lack of support for its members.
The controversy intensified following a joint announcement by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister about establishing a Qatari Emiri Air Force facility at Idaho's Mountain Home Air Force Base. Loomer condemned this development, equating it to actions one might expect from a President Ilhan Omar, highlighting her disapproval of the decision.
