Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - Singer Jaspinder Narula has recalled an emotional and heartbreaking moment linked to the recording of the song Mujhe Ek Pal Chain Na Aaye from the 1997 film Judaai. During a recent interview, the singer revealed that while the song was being recorded inside the studio, a painful real-life drama involving Boney Kapoor, Sridevi and his first wife Mona Shourie Kapoor was unfolding outside. According to Jaspinder, it was around the same time that Mona discovered Boney’s affair with Sridevi.
Speaking about the incident, Jaspinder Narula shared that she was informed the song would be picturised on Sridevi. She also recalled suffering from a severe ear infection during the recording, with one of her ears completely blocked. Despite the health issue, she completed the song with difficulty. Jaspinder revealed that she later became close to Mona Shourie Kapoor, who opened up to her about the painful phase in her personal life. Recalling Mona’s words, the singer said, “While someone’s home was being built, someone else’s home was falling apart.” Mona reportedly told her that she was crying outside the studio after learning about Boney Kapoor’s affair with Sridevi while the recording was taking place inside. Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie Kapoor and the couple had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Their marriage eventually ended after Boney fell in love with Sridevi. He later married Sridevi in 1996, and the couple had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
The revelations by Jaspinder Narula have once again brought attention to one of Bollywood’s most talked-about personal relationships. While Boney Kapoor and Sridevi remained together until her death in 2018, Jaspinder’s account highlights the emotional turmoil faced by Mona Shourie Kapoor during that period. Mona passed away in 2012 after battling cancer, while Sridevi died in Dubai in 2018 following an accidental drowning.
