Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - From winning Commonwealth Games gold to earning the honour of leading the Indian contingent, Jaismine Lamboria has capped off a dream campaign in Glasgow. The 24-year-old has been named India's flag bearer for the closing ceremony after her sensational triumph in the women's 57kg boxing event.

Jaismine produced a dominant display in the final, defeating defending champion Michaela Walsh 5-0 by unanimous decision to clinch the gold medal. The victory improved on the bronze she won at the Birmingham 2022 Games and played a key role in India's record-breaking boxing campaign of seven gold and three silver medals.

An emotional Jaismine dedicated her historic victory to the nation, her coaches and her family. The Bhiwani boxer has enjoyed a stellar run over the past year, adding the Commonwealth Games title to her world championship gold and Asian Championships silver, further establishing herself as one of India's finest boxers.

The closing ceremony will also usher in a new chapter for Indian sport as Ahmedabad officially receives the Commonwealth Games flag, signalling the country's journey towards hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
