China has strongly opposed the recent tariff measures announced by the United States on Indian goods, with its ambassador stating that such actions disrupt global trade stability. Speaking at a press briefing, the Chinese envoy said that Washington’s move would not only affect India’s economy but also undermine the principles of fair trade.
He stressed that unilateral tariffs create uncertainty for international markets and place unnecessary pressure on developing nations. According to him, countries like India deserve a level playing field to expand exports and strengthen growth, instead of facing restrictive policies.
The remarks come at a time when India has been seeking to boost its global trade presence while diversifying its partnerships. Officials in New Delhi have not yet issued a detailed response to the US decision but are closely monitoring its potential impact on industries such as textiles, steel, and information technology.
Trade analysts say the US tariffs could complicate India’s efforts to maintain balance in its economic relations with major powers, while China’s backing highlights a rare moment of alignment between New Delhi and Beijing on trade concerns.
The issue is expected to figure prominently in upcoming global economic discussions.
