Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - The makers of Batwara 1947 have unveiled a series of character posters, introducing audiences to the key figures at the heart of the Partition-era drama. Featuring an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal, the film is set to release in theatres on August 14.
Sharing the first-look posters on social media, the makers described the characters as individuals whose courage helped them survive one of history’s most turbulent periods. The posters feature the film’s star-studded cast, including Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur and Abhimanyu Singh, highlighting themes of resilience, hope and survival. Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, Batwara 1947 aims to tell the stories of ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances as India underwent one of its most defining historical events. The newly released posters offer a glimpse into the emotional and human struggles that form the core of the narrative.
Directed and co-written by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film has been produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. The project also features music by A. R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Previously titled Lahore 1947, the film was recently renamed Batwara 1947 with the release of a motion poster that confirmed its theatrical release date.
With its powerful historical backdrop, acclaimed cast and celebrated creative team, Batwara 1947 is emerging as one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film also marks the reunion of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi nearly three decades after Ghatak, adding further excitement ahead of its Independence Day weekend release.
