Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Actor Aanchal Khurana has spoken out about the pressures faced by actors in the entertainment industry following the death of television actor Sanchita Ugale. In a video shared on Instagram, Aanchal alleged that exploitation, casting couch practices and the constant fear of replacement continue to affect many performers, taking a serious emotional toll on them.
Reacting to the tragic incident, Aanchal questioned whether people truly understand the struggles actors face behind the glamour of the entertainment world. She claimed that artists are often replaced for refusing to compromise their self-respect or for standing up for themselves. The actor also highlighted the daily cycle of auditions, rejection and comparison that many performers endure while trying to sustain their careers. Aanchal further criticised television channels and producers, alleging that ratings and profits are often prioritised over the well-being of actors. Reflecting on her own experience, she revealed that she had also been dealing with stress and pressure and chose to spend time with her family in Delhi to cope with the situation. She urged people facing emotional distress to stay close to their loved ones and seek support when needed.
Meanwhile, police said Sanchita Ugale was found dead at her residence in Nallasopara on Sunday evening. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, and officials stated that no foul play has been suspected so far. An accidental death report has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Following the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) called for a high-level inquiry into Sanchita Ugale’s death. As tributes continue to pour in, Aanchal Khurana’s remarks have reignited conversations about mental health, workplace pressures and the challenges faced by actors in the entertainment industry.
