A man claiming to be a lawyer has been arrested in Hong Kong after he allegedly skipped out on paying a dinner bill worth nearly ₹9 lakh.
According to local reports, the suspect had gone out on a date at a high-end restaurant, where he ordered an expensive selection of food and drinks. However, when the time came to settle the bill, he attempted to leave the premises without paying.
Restaurant staff immediately alerted authorities, and the man was later caught and taken into custody. Investigators revealed that the suspect had introduced himself as a lawyer, but it is now suspected that he falsely used the profession as part of his act.
Police are continuing their probe into whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of fraud. The case has drawn significant attention in Hong Kong, not just because of the hefty bill but also due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the man’s identity and actions.
