TCS Employee Sparks Outrage After Sleeping Outside Pune Office Over Unpaid Salary
Pune, 5 August 2025 – A viral image of a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee sleeping on a footpath outside the company's Sahyadri Park campus in Pune has ignited widespread outrage on social media.
The picture, shared by the Forum For IT Employees (FITE), showed a letter from the individual stating he had reported back to the TCS office on 29 July, but his ID remained inactive, and he had not received his salary, which was "confirmed on July 31". The employee allegedly informed HR that he had no money and was forced to sleep on the footpath, receiving no response.
In response to the growing criticism, TCS issued a statement. The company asserted that this was a "case of unauthorised absence where the employee has been absent from the office," and consequently, his "payroll was suspended during this period".
However, TCS added that the "employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement." The company stated it has "provided him with accommodation for now and are supporting him in addressing his situation in a fair and constructive manner". This incident follows recent news that TCS plans to lay off approximately 12,000 employees globally.
