India criticises Pakistan army chiefs nuclear threat calling it reckless rhetoric

India has sharply criticised recent remarks by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, who allegedly threatened to “take down half the world” in reference to the country’s nuclear capabilities. Officials in New Delhi described the statement as dangerous and irresponsible, accusing Pakistan of using nuclear threats as a routine tool in its political and military posturing.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said such comments undermine regional stability and reveal Islamabad’s unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue. The official added that nuclear weapons should never be used as instruments of intimidation and warned that such rhetoric could further heighten tensions in South Asia.

Strategic experts in India noted that this is not the first time Pakistani leaders have resorted to provocative nuclear talk, often framing it as a deterrent against perceived threats from India. They argue that such repeated posturing reflects a long-standing pattern in Pakistan’s defence approach.

The latest exchange comes amid already strained relations between the two neighbours, with no high-level talks held in years and cross-border tensions continuing along the Line of Control.
