Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has opened up about a heated confrontation with Rahul Dravid during their playing days, recalling an incident where tempers flared inside the dressing room. Sehwag admitted that after a disagreement, he even told teammates to warn Dravid not to come near him.
The revelation was made during a recent interview where Sehwag reflected on his career and shared anecdotes of dressing-room tensions. According to him, the clash stemmed from differences in approach to the game, particularly around batting strategies and team decisions. “I told my friends in the team, ‘Tell your coach not to come near me,’” Sehwag recalled, without naming the exact series.
Despite the intensity of the moment, Sehwag clarified that such disagreements were part of the sport and that he continued to share professional respect with Dravid. “We may have argued, but it never affected our cricket,” he said, adding that competitive spirit often brought out strong emotions among players.
The story has resurfaced at a time when Dravid, now India’s head coach, is being praised for his calm leadership style. Cricket fans have expressed surprise at Sehwag’s candid admission, pointing to the contrast between Dravid’s composed image and the fiery confrontation described.
Sehwag concluded by stressing that dressing-room clashes were temporary and should not overshadow the bond players built over years of representing the country together
