Tourism from India to Azerbaijan and Turkey has taken a sharp hit in the wake of Operation Sindoor — the India–Pakistan military confrontation in May 2025. Data show that between May and August this year, Indian arrivals to Azerbaijan fell by about 56 % compared to the same period last year. Turkey also saw a sizeable drop of roughly 33.3 % in Indian tourists over the same period.
Both countries had been popular among Indian travellers, thanks to improved flight connectivity and attractive holiday options. However, their public support for Pakistan during the conflict triggered widespread backlash in India — including calls for boycott, and travel portals reported a dramatic fall in bookings: some saw drops of 60 % and cancellation surges as high as 250 %.
