Shivani Jaiswal, West Bengal-
The West Bengal government has announced a new welfare initiative aimed at supporting low-income families and women across the state. Under the scheme, the government will provide 75 subsidized fish-and-rice meals to eligible beneficiaries, focusing on improving food security for economically weaker sections.
Along with the food support program, the state has also introduced a financial assistance plan for women. The scheme is designed to provide direct monetary help to women from disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their financial stability and support basic needs.
Officials said the initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to reduce poverty and improve nutrition levels in rural and urban areas. The programs are expected to benefit thousands of families, especially in economically vulnerable communities.
The state administration has stated that more details regarding eligibility and distribution will be shared through local authorities in the coming days.
