But where we are taking full advantage of this convenience don’t know the full truth behind it, of the challenges delivery workers face on a daily basis. Recently a video of one such incident is taking heat on this matter. The video shows a young deliveryman struggling to keep his balance during heavy rain as his bike gets stuck in knee-deep water.
The incident unfolded when the delivery worker attempt to restart the bike while in knee-deep water. In an instant he lost control and fell the water, causing his delivery box to fall and open, spiling the package he was carrying. Fortunately for him three nearby bystanders came to help him quickly. They assisted him stand up and collect the scattered items.
Heavy rainfall in Pune and surrounding areas has caused severe waterlogging, nearly turning the roads into rivers. Roads which are easy to run on become a safety scare for everyday people. The video underscores the everyday struggles delivery workers go through. Many people have sympathetic remarks over this matter. For instance, “Be kind to delivery Agents. They go through a lot, which allows you to enjoy in safe comfort,” “Delivery boys are humans too… we should think about them and not order food during the rain.” Some even have strong opinion on the road conditions “Roads, drainage are in Pathetic condition all over in Pune,” one user commented on Instagram. This video also portrays kindness and solidarity towards gig economy workers.
