Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa confirmed the deletions 13.21% of prior voters targeted duplicates, deceased, migrants, and absentees for cleaner rolls ahead of future polls.

The process began in October 2025, with the draft list in January deleting 2.89 crore names initially (46 lakh deceased, 1.26 crore migrants, 23.7 lakh duplicates). Final cuts followed claims/objections (86.69 lakh additions via Form 6, 3.18 lakh deletions via Form 7), involving 1.77 lakh Booth Level Officers verifying door to door. Districts like Prayagraj (3.29 lakh added) saw net gains, while Lucknow had high initial deletions.

Affected voters can still apply for inclusion using Form 6, 1.04 crore received notices for discrepancies. The exercise, mirroring national efforts, ensures accuracy amid political scrutiny.
