Desk Correspondent , Lucknow - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to ensure immediate and transparent compensation for farmers whose rabi crops were damaged by unseasonal rains, hailstorms and fire incidents across the state. Chairing a high-level review meeting in the morning, Adityanath instructed revenue, agriculture and other departments to conduct accurate, time-bound assessments of losses for every affected farmer and sharecropper. He emphasised swift coordination with insurance companies for claim settlements and directed district magistrates to utilize funds from the State Disaster Relief Fund without delay.
The Chief Minister stressed that adequate resources must reach districts promptly to provide relief, including coverage for crop losses, livestock deaths and housing damage under schemes such as Krishak Durghatna Bima Yojana and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. He asked officials to set up relief camps where required and involve mandi committees in outreach efforts. “It is natural for farmers to feel worried in such adverse circumstances, and the state government stands firmly with them with full commitment,” Adityanath said, adding that any negligence in relief work would not be tolerated and accountability would be fixed.
The directive comes amid concerns over widespread crop damage from recent erratic weather, which has left many farmers anxious about their livelihoods. Adityanath called for direct contact with beneficiaries to ensure insurance benefits are disbursed quickly and transparently, reinforcing the government’s focus on farmer welfare through inter-departmental coordination at the district level.
