Three Booked in Bengaluru Over Alleged Defamatory Posts Against Rahul Gandhi

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Three Instagram account holders have been booked in Bengaluru for allegedly posting offensive and defamatory content targeting Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The FIR was registered following a complaint by a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member.

According to the complaint, three Instagram accounts allegedly shared defamatory and provocative posts against Rahul Gandhi, including one video containing sexually explicit remarks. The complainant alleged that the posts were intended to insult the dignity of an elected public representative. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.

The development comes amid a separate controversy over a zero FIR filed against a woman for allegedly using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest over the NEET-UG paper leak. Rahul Gandhi recently criticised action against students over such cases, while the accused woman later apologised, calling her remarks her "first and last mistake."

The Bengaluru case has once again sparked debate over offensive social media content and the use of legal action in cases involving political leaders and online speech.
