TG-RERA Chairman N Satyanarayana Resigns Citing Severe Health Issues

Desk Correspondent , Hyderabad — Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TG-RERA) Chairman N Satyanarayana has resigned from his post due to worsening medical ailments. The Telangana government accepted the resignation of the retired IAS officer on Tuesday via an official memo from the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department. Satyanarayana stated that conducting grueling bench hearings lasting up to five hours daily, combined with heavy administrative duties, caused him severe back pain and other health complications that required continuous physiotherapy.

Reflecting on his three-year tenure, Satyanarayana described the position as one of the most challenging yet fulfilling assignments of his 40-year public service career. Under his leadership, TG-RERA implemented critical institutional reforms that expedited project registrations to within 10 to 21 days, far ahead of the 30-day statutory timeline. These efficiency gains helped register 10,817 projects and 5,106 real estate agents, positioning Telangana fifth nationally in real estate regulatory compliance and project registrations.

The authority also made substantial strides in consumer protection and grievance redressal during his leadership. TG-RERA successfully resolved 1,764 out of 2,764 total complaints, cleared long-standing backlogs from 2017–2022, and facilitated the revival of stalled projects like Jaya Platinum and Jaya Diamond. Furthermore, Satyanarayana expanded operational governance by securing the deputation of 56 officers, establishing a Public Grievance and Guidance Cell, and forming strategic partnerships with premier institutions like NALSAR University and the Advertising Standards Council of India to combat misleading real estate advertisements.
