Tehran attacks Jordan as U.S. reimposes its blockade on Iran

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Tehran has launched fresh attacks on Jordan while the U.S. has reimposed its blockade on Iran, deepening an already volatile confrontation across the Gulf. Bahrain sounded missile alert sirens, and Kuwait said its air defenses were intercepting incoming missiles and drones.

Iran struck a U.S. Army base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, while Bahrain and Kuwait came under aerial attack or threats that forced air defenses into action. Jordan said it shot down several missiles, Bahrain said it fended off an attack, and Kuwait’s military said its defenses were engaging hostile aerial targets. The strikes are part of a wider tit-for-tat exchange tied to the U.S.-Iran conflict and the struggle over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The renewed fighting comes after Trump reimposed a blockade on Iranian shipping and moved away from earlier talk of a 20% transit fee on cargo through Hormuz. The shift followed U.S. operations that continued for several nights, as well as Iran’s response against U.S. and allied assets in the Gulf. That has left the region on edge, with Gulf states once again bracing for missile and drone attacks.

Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait have all become flashpoints because of U.S. military presence and their exposure to Iranian retaliation. The latest exchanges show that the conflict is no longer limited to maritime incidents; it is now spreading across multiple countries and defense systems in the region. With sirens sounding and interceptors active, the risk of escalation remains extremely high.

The new attacks underline how fragile the regional security situation has become, especially as the U.S. tightens its pressure on Iran. With Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait all under fire or on alert, the crisis is widening beyond Hormuz into a broader West Asia conflict.
