Tea Stall Success Story Sparks Entrepreneurship Debate

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - A social media post about a man who quit his Rs 38,000-a-month corporate job to start a tea stall has gone viral, triggering a debate on entrepreneurship and taking calculated career risks.

The story was shared by X user Ankit Pandey, who claimed his neighbour left his job at Teleperformance in May and invested around Rs 2 lakh to open a tea shop near an auto stand. According to the post, the shop sells nearly 400 cups of tea daily, generating around ₹1.8 lakh in monthly sales. After covering rent, staff salaries and operating expenses, the owner reportedly earns close to Rs 1 lakh a month. The business has also expanded by adding a vada pav, samosa and jalebi counter.

Pandey said his neighbour visited his home with sweets to celebrate the business expansion and remarked that "sometimes the biggest promotion is the one you give yourself." The post received widespread attention, with many users praising the man's courage and entrepreneurial spirit, while others highlighted the importance of taking calculated risks before leaving a stable job.

The viral post has reignited discussions on the rewards and challenges of entrepreneurship, with many social media users calling the tea stall owner's journey an inspiring example of turning risk into opportunity.
