Joseph Vijay, who is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Thursday, in what is being described as an important political interaction between the state and central leadership.
During the meeting, discussions reportedly focused on financial allocations, development projects, and ongoing welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister is said to have raised several state-specific demands, including increased fund support for infrastructure development, urban modernization, and rural welfare programs.
Sources indicate that the Finance Minister listened to the proposals and assured that the Centre would examine the requests in line with national policies and fiscal guidelines. The meeting is also believed to have touched upon investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu, with a focus on boosting industrial growth, job creation, and improving ease of doing business in the state.
The interaction between the two leaders comes at a time when coordination between state governments and the Centre is seen as crucial for implementing large-scale development projects. Political observers note that such meetings often play a key role in shaping budgetary decisions and long-term economic planning.
Supporters of the Chief Minister welcomed the engagement, stating that it reflects a proactive approach toward securing resources for the state’s development. Meanwhile, officials described the meeting as constructive and forward-looking.
