A suspected cylinder blast at a residence in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden police station limits on Friday morning has left seven people injured. The incident, which occurred at the home of a woman identified as Kasturamma, caused significant structural damage, including the collapse of the house's walls and ceiling. The sheer force of the explosion was powerful enough to also damage nearby houses.
Emergency services quickly responded, with all seven injured individuals promptly shifted to hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently verifying unconfirmed reports of one fatality resulting from the blast.
DCP (South East) Sara Fatima provided an initial update, confirming that police received a call about the incident earlier in the day. She noted that the affected area comprises "compact homes in a slum area," and indicated that while injuries are confirmed and treated, a "detailed statement" regarding the reported death would be issued by evening.
Police are yet to officially confirm the exact cause of the explosion. Further details are expected later in the day as investigations are ongoing. This incident follows another explosion last week in Andhra Pradesh, where a welding gas cylinder blast at a scrap shop near Visakhapatnam's fishing harbour resulted in three deaths.
