The Supreme Court on Wednesday sharply questioned the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak controversy, observing that repeated irregularities in the conduct of the medical entrance examination reflected a failure to learn from past mistakes.
During the hearing, the court expressed concern over recurring allegations of mismanagement and lack of transparency in one of the country’s largest competitive exams. The bench noted that such incidents not only affect the credibility of the examination system but also create uncertainty and stress for lakhs of students preparing for medical admissions.
The remarks came amid ongoing investigations into the alleged paper leak and complaints regarding the handling of the examination process. Petitioners argued that repeated lapses had raised serious questions about the security and fairness of the exam.
The NTA, which conducts the NEET-UG examination across India, has faced criticism from students, parents, and opposition leaders following reports of irregularities linked to the exam. The agency has maintained that strict measures are being taken to ensure fairness and prevent malpractice.
The matter is expected to remain under judicial scrutiny as the court continues hearing petitions related to the controversy.
Mukesh Khanna’s call to replace “Jana Gana Mana” with “Vande Mataram” has sparked debate over India’s national symbols and the history behind them.
PM Modi warned against what he called “dimaagi Naxals,” urging their identification and isolation, while the Congress criticised the remarks as politically motivated.
