Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation showed that, for the BJP, students, youth and the country come before any political post. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisions to ensure strict punishment for those guilty of paper leaks were commendable.

In a post on X, Shah said the resignation reflected the party’s principle that the nation and its students matter more than office. He also said the Modi government respects the feelings of young people and is committed to reforms that will prevent paper leaks and restore trust in the exam system. Shah further said he was confident the government’s steps would bring justice to students who cleared NEET fairly. His comments came after Pradhan stepped down amid nationwide protests over alleged exam irregularities and paper leaks.

Shah’s remarks frame Pradhan’s exit as a sacrifice made in the interest of students rather than a political setback. The government is now trying to present the resignation, along with tougher anti-leak measures, as proof that it is responding seriously to the crisis.
